Join us at Copenhagen Atomics as we finish building a functioning thorium molten salt reactor.
Copenhagen Atomics has invented a new form of nuclear reactor, which is significantly more efficient than any previous nuclear reactors. This will be a game changer for the global energy sector. Our reactors will be able to provide energy at lower cost than any other technology (including fusion).
As a company, we value curiosity, flexibility, being self-driven, yet able to collaborate, and the possibility to grow as a person and professional.
Department:
You will be a key player in our isotopic lithium separation team, developing, testing, and running our in-house enriched lithium production. This role is hands-on with handling of metallic lithium and experience with metallic lithium is required, e.g. from the lithium battery industry.
Isotopic lithium separation of natural lithium into its two isotopes lithium-6 and lithium-7 is vital prerequisite for enabling the Copenhagen Atomics reactor, which uses lithium-7 fluoride as the primary component and diluent of the molten salts, while lithium-6 plays a vital role in fusion system. The lithium team consists of both mechanical engineers, welders, and technicians, yet we are working very closely together towards the end-goal; supplying enriched lithium.
As a lithium metal technician you will play a key role in the operation of lithium enrichment systems. You will be involved in handling metallic lithium, glovebox work, running of in-house systems, quality control, testing and verification of design, and development of procedures.
You’ll play an important role in:
- Handling metallic lithium in an inert environment
- Organizing and operating equipment containing metallic lithium
- Develop procedures for product and quality control
- Keep developing and re-thinking our ways of working
- Collaborating with a world-class team on isotopic lithium separation technology
- Ensuring quality control and engaging with sub-suppliers on quality related issues
To succeed in the role, you:
- Hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in material science, chemical engineering, production engineering or a related field, with 2-10 years of relevant experience
- Have solid practical/hands-on experience with handling metallic lithium from work or projects is required, for example from the lithium battery industry
Additional information & Next Step:
Innovation is at the forefront of our culture and drives us to achieve our goals. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work on groundbreaking technologies with the potential to make a significant impact on the world.
Based in Copenhagen, we are an international team of over 60 engineers, technicians, designers, and more who are in the process of developing a new, low-cost, abundant, sustainable, and safe nuclear technology to be manufactured on assembly lines in the future.
